- VeChain is taking developer engagement to the next level by building partnerships with UK universities and hosting hackathons.
- For developers, VeChain offers more than just a platform; it provides grants, mentorship, and funding to help bring real-world dApps to life.
The VeChain Builders team has shared exciting news for aspiring blockchain developers. In an X post, they announced a new initiative in collaboration with leading UK universities aimed at nurturing the next generation of Web3 builders.
The program combines a series of in-person workshops with an online hackathon, creating an opportunity for both newcomers and experienced developers to dive deep into the VeChain ecosystem.
The best part? These workshops and the hackathon aren’t limited to those who can attend physically; everything will be available online, making it possible for participants from anywhere in the world to join, learn, and compete.
Whether you’re looking to sharpen your coding skills, explore VeChain’s developer tools, or build real-world applications, this is your chance to get hands-on experience and network with like-minded innovators.
There’s also a big incentive: a $30,000 prize pool awaits participants who bring the best ideas and solutions to life.
Focused on Real-World Impact
The schedule is packed with learning sessions, starting with Solidity fundamentals on August 5, followed by Backend and SDK development on August 18, Frontend and VeWorld/VeChainKit tools on August 29, and a deep dive into VeBetter on September 1.
On September 8, the focus shifts to interoperability with Wanchain, while September 15 will feature a full-stack development example and a live AMA session. Finally, the much-anticipated online hackathon kicks off on September 22 and runs through October 6, giving developers time to turn their knowledge into working projects.
VeChain’s hackathons are more than just coding competitions; they’re designed with a purpose. Many of these events focus on high-impact areas like sustainability, the automotive industry, and building new tools to enhance the VeChainThor blockchain.
Participants walk away with access to mentorship, additional funding, and even venture capital opportunities to help turn their ideas into real-world solutions. These hackathons have become a key driver of innovation within the VeChain ecosystem, helping grow a vibrant developer community and fueling the creation of practical, blockchain-powered applications.
Back in 2020, VeChain partnered with the RMIT Blockchain Innovation Hub to explore blockchain governance and create frameworks for decentralized consensus. Fast forward to 2024, and VeChain teamed up with EasyA and Boston Consulting Group (BCG) to host a hackathon at the University of Cambridge, where developers focused on building sustainability-driven “X‑2‑Earn” dApps powered by the VeBetterDAO ecosystem and B3TR token.
A year earlier, in 2023, VeChain had already collaborated with EasyA and BCG at Harvard University, running another hackathon dedicated to sustainability-focused projects and offering $30,000 in funding for impactful dApps.
Keyrock Joins as a VeChain Validator
In other exciting developments, Keyrock has officially joined VeChain’s ranks as one of its trusted validators. Becoming an Authority Masternode isn’t easy; it requires holding at least 25 million VET, passing strict KYC checks through the VeVID portal, and meeting high-performance standards.
Keyrock, with its 170+ member team spread across 36 countries, brings exactly the right mix of experience and credibility. Their deep roots in both crypto-native markets and traditional finance, coupled with strong compliance expertise, make them an ideal validator to support VeChain as it moves into its next phase of mass adoption.
