VeChain has joined hands with 47 volunteers from Cleanify, a blockchain-powered platform that incentivises environmental stewardship, to clean the streets of Japan. According to reports, this particular exercise took place in Kitashinchi, Osaka’s most famous shopping district, where participants received special gifts.
Reporting on this, VeChain’s Sarah Naaba hinted that the operation was very successful as the team was able to get the likes of unwanted brollies, cigarette butts, masks, drink cans, and bottles off the street.

Lauding the initiative and the willingness of the citizens to participate, VeChain CEO Sunny Lu highlighted that the “Osaka Cleanify event was gold.” According to him, the success underscores the collective value and the effectiveness of the individual’s efforts while justifying why the country is a good role model to everyone. As highlighted in our previous article, Lu believes that this is just the beginning of VeChain.
This time I learned why every city in Japan is so much cleaner than most of the iconic cities in the world. I believe the great result is coming from everyone’s effort with awareness even from childhood.
VeChain and Cleanify to Continue the Cleanups in Other Japanese Cities and Nigeria
Cleanify, one of the main proponents of this initiative, has established itself as an integral contributor to global sustainable practices using B3TR tokens sourced from the VeBetterDao, as featured in our recent coverage.
According to our research, it rewards users for completing cleanups and participating in campaigns. It has also disclosed its plans to advance this initiative by rewarding recycling and reusing to accelerate the realisation of its mission.
For now, the street cleaning exercise continues in major cities in some selected countries, with an upcoming exercise expected to occur in Uyo, Nigeria, on August 12, 2025. On June 14, another exercise will happen in Niigata, Japan. On that same day, another cleanup would occur in different cities – Sapporo, Toyooka, and Omuta. On June 15 and June 17, Cleanify and VeChain would proceed to Kitami and Shibuya, respectively.
As detailed in our recent blog post, VeChain has partnered with 4ocean to expand its sustainable exercise in an ambition to remove more than 300,000 pounds of ocean plastics. This follows reports that 440 million pounds of plastics find their way to the ocean annually. Already, 40 million pounds of plastic have been pulled out from global waters by 4ocean.
VeChain has also advanced its initiative to reward users for real actions like sustainable shopping. As noted in our earlier post, VeBetter Grants Program 3.0 has been launched to facilitate this operation.
Meanwhile, VeChain ambassador Sebastian has predicted that the blockchain project could certainly lead a shift towards sustainability, and the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives. As reviewed in our recent publication, around $50 trillion could be channelled into this by 2030.
