Addressing the Bridge Concerns
After the Shiba Inu team introduced their much-anticipated Ethereum layer 2 solution’s mainnet, reports trickled in about potential issues with the Shibarium bridge. These reports fueled fears that assets on the bridge might be stuck indefinitely.
Shytoshi Kusama, the lead developer of Shiba Inu, swiftly stepped in to clarify matters. Putting to rest the rising panic, Kusama stated emphatically, “There is no bridge issue.” He further warned against believing screenshots suggesting otherwise, asserting that they are counterfeit. Reiterating the security of the system, Kusama emphasized that all user assets remain safe and intact.
The Real Challenge: An Unexpected Traffic Boom!
Instead of an intrinsic flaw with the Shibarium bridge, the technical hiccup arose from an unforeseen explosion of simultaneous transactions and user influx. This overwhelming activity was triggered by the announcement of the Shibarium mainnet launch. The Shiba Inu team is now investing considerable efforts to scale the network, aiming to seamlessly cater to the booming community’s demands.
Impressive Stats Signal Strength and Vigor
Supporting his assertions with robust data, Kusama shed light on Shibarium’s intense activity using insights from Alchemy, their analytics partner. Although allocated a generous 400 million compute units monthly by Alchemy, Shibarium astonishingly consumed over 160 million of these in a mere 30 minutes of its mainnet launch. For context, compute units gauge the computational power needed for tasks like executing smart contracts on the blockchain.
Keeping pace at this rate, Shibarium is poised to hit billions of compute units daily, rivaling the performance of today’s leading layer 2 solutions.
As a testament to the community’s faith and engagement, Kusama highlighted that within 15 minutes of the mainnet launch, a whopping 1000 ETH and 600,000 BONE were transferred to Shibarium.
A Word of Caution
Concluding his address, Shytoshi Kusama urged the Shibarmy to steer clear of unfounded rumors. He also warned against engaging with unofficial links, advocating for adherence to Shiba Inu’s official site, shib.io, as a primary source of genuine updates and information.
