    • A new statue of Satoshi Nakamoto featuring a hooded figure was officially unveiled in Tokyo, highlighting Bitcoin’s early roots.
    • Global tributes continue as Tokyo joins Miami and Lugano in honoring Satoshi Nakamoto’s contributions to the world of cryptocurrency.

A new statue depicting the mysterious figure of Bitcoin’s creator, Satoshi Nakamoto, has finally been unveiled in Tokyo, Japan. The statue is made of vertical metal bars and features a hooded figure working in front of a laptop.

Without showing the face, this design illustrates how strong the concept of anonymity and the principle of decentralization are in the world of Bitcoin. The location is also quite iconic, right in front of the famous Bitcoin mural in Tokyo, as if confirming Japan’s position in the history of world crypto.

The third Statue of Satoshi Nakamoto was just unveiled in Tokyo!

However, this is not the first statue to honor Nakamoto. Previously, two similar statues had been erected in Lugano, Switzerland, and El Zonte, El Salvador. In fact, recently, on April 12, a mini statue of Satoshi Nakamoto was also unveiled in Miami, United States. This time, the statue is a faceless silhouette carrying the Bitcoin whitepaper.

The city of Miami seems very serious about its ambition to become the “World Bitcoin City,” and the presence of this statue is used as a symbol of government support for crypto adoption. Just imagine, walking around Miami while seeing Nakamoto’s silhouette, it feels like following the early footsteps of the modern financial revolution.

On the other hand, the inauguration of the statue in Tokyo coincided with the surge in Bitcoin prices that had reached $95,000. Interestingly, based on the latest report, Bitcoin ownership associated with Nakamoto is now estimated to be worth around $103.57 billion. A figure that makes anyone wonder, who is the person behind the name Satoshi?

Speculation about Satoshi Nakamoto’s Identity is Getting Stronger

Furthermore, the search for the real Satoshi Nakamoto has actually been heating up lately. The CNF previously highlighted the early involvement of Jack Dorsey, the founder of Twitter, in the world of cypherpunk and cryptography.

Important dates in Bitcoin history turned out to be quite in line with Jack Dorsey’s personal milestones, so that many believe in the possibility of his involvement. Even so, until now everything is still just wild speculation.

It didn’t stop there, two weeks ago, attorney James Murphy also joined the discussion. He filed a lawsuit against the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS), accusing the agency of hiding information related to Nakamoto’s identity.

Murphy claims that a DHS agent once mentioned that his colleagues met with the creator of Bitcoin before 2019. Not only that, this rumor raises a new question, does the government secretly know who Nakamoto really is?

If you want to look back, in October 2024, HBO released a documentary entitled Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery. This film claims that Peter Todd, a Canadian crypto developer, is Nakamoto. However, Peter Todd himself immediately denied the accusations. He even emphasized that revealing Nakamoto’s identity could be dangerous to the person’s personal safety.

Interestingly, the wave of respect for Nakamoto does not stop in Tokyo or Miami. On May 1, the small town of Fornelli in the Molise region of Italy also plans to inaugurate a monument to Nakamoto. This monument was designed by local artist Mattia Pannoni and is fully funded by the city government.

A small but meaningful step, showing that the spirit of Bitcoin has crossed geographical boundaries, even to areas far from the hustle and bustle of the world’s financial centers.
