Rahul Vohra Quietly Backs Crypto While Building Superhuman

    Rahul Vohra
    • Rahul Vohra quietly invests in early-stage crypto projects while running Superhuman with unwavering focus.
    • His discreet co-investments include DeFi names like Stani Kulechov and Meltem Demirors.

While most people are still struggling to manage their inboxes, Rahul Vohra has come a long way. He’s not just the founder of Superhuman, a fast email service that’s a favorite among professionals, but also an early investor in companies and projects that are now worth a lot of money.

Uber, Robinhood, even a few crypto and NFT projects—they’ve all been on his radar since the beginning. But what’s the real story behind his seemingly timely moves?

Rahul Vohra: From Inbox Disruptor to Quiet Crypto Backer

Rahul is no newcomer to tech. He studied computer science at Cambridge University and has long been obsessed with speed, efficiency, and products that actually help people. He demonstrated that obsession with his first startup, Rapportive, which changed the way people viewed email by displaying LinkedIn profiles inside Gmail.

Shortly after launching, Rapportive was acquired by LinkedIn. Money poured in, media attention soared, and Rahul? He just stepped back, planning his next move.

Superhuman, his second product, was born out of a desire to build email that was faster than humans type. Not playing around, he and his team developed a unique formula to measure product-market fit, and are widely known as the “PMF machine” among startup founders.

However, there is another side to Rahul that not many people talk about: his sharp investment instincts—especially in the crypto space.

Staying Low-Key While Shaping the Future

Many people know Rahul as a productivity enthusiast, but behind the scenes, he is also active as an investor. He runs two funds on AngelList with Todd Goldberg. From there, they entered dozens of early projects, including several in the blockchain and NFT worlds.

Unfortunately, not all of these projects were announced to the public. However, from searching several open sources, his name appears in projects that intersect with DeFi and crypto infrastructure.

Interestingly, Rahul Vohra does not like to be too prominent about his crypto investments. Unlike other investors who are diligent in showing off their portfolios, Rahul prefers to quietly play behind the scenes. He is seen investing with big names such as Stani Kulechov (Aave), Ryan Selkis, and Meltem Demirors. If you want to put it another way, he’s like a friend in class who rarely talks, but always gets the highest marks on every exam.

Furthermore, his involvement is not limited to funds. He also brings the same philosophy of design and efficiency to the crypto world, although not always at the forefront. There are not many interviews or long tweets from him about blockchain, but his investment patterns show that he treats crypto not as a passing trend, but as part of a larger technology ecosystem.

On the other hand, Rahul also still runs Superhuman with high commitment. Even though the world is moving towards instant messaging and AI-generated email, he still believes that a good email experience—one that is fast, clean, and personal—is still very much relevant. So if anyone thinks he will move completely into crypto, they need to think again.

Maybe that’s what makes Rahul Vohra unique. He doesn’t talk too much, doesn’t chase the spotlight, but his footprint is clear in various industries that are on the rise. From building a tool that helps people “respond to emails faster” to funding crypto projects that could one day change the world’s financial system, he continues to move forward quietly.
