- near.com adds access to 450+ tokenized U.S. stocks and ETFs.
- NEAR Intents connects the assets with crypto across 30+ networks.
- Ondo’s tokenized equities market has already surpassed $1 billion.
near.com is adding Ondo Stocks to its confidential cross-chain platform, connecting an existing $1 billion tokenized-equities market with crypto liquidity spread across more than 30 blockchain networks.
Eligible users will be able to buy and hold tokenized U.S. stocks and ETFs alongside crypto through a single near.com account. The integration covers more than 450 assets, including tokenized versions of Nvidia, Tesla and Apple shares and the QQQ ETF. Users can fund purchases with USDC, Bitcoin and other supported digital assets without manually bridging them onto the network where the tokenized security trades.
The partnership arrives after Ondo Stocks reached $1.01 billion in total value locked and $27 billion in cumulative trading volume by August. Rather than creating another tokenized-stock venue from scratch, NEAR is adding a new distribution and execution route to a market that already has measurable secondary activity.
NEAR Intents Handles the Cross-Chain Trade
Moving capital between blockchains normally involves choosing bridges, swapping assets and managing transactions across several networks. NEAR Intents moves those steps behind the interface.
A user can fund a near.com account with supported digital assets, select an Ondo Stock, execute the purchase and later exchange the position back into USDC or another supported asset. NEAR says its infrastructure handles the cross-chain routing and execution, with more than 30 networks supported.
The company also says each stage of that process is confidential rather than broadcast publicly. That changes an important feature of tokenized portfolio management. On a conventional public blockchain, linking crypto balances and tokenized equities to the same address can make both holdings and transaction history visible through blockchain explorers.
For investors using near.com, the intended flow is simpler:
- Crypto across supported networks → NEAR Intents routing → Ondo Stock → confidential near.com account
NEAR says its broader cross-chain infrastructure has processed more than $30 billion in volume, although that figure covers the ecosystem rather than this new Ondo integration specifically.
Ondo Stocks Are Not the Underlying Shares
The products available through the integration should not be confused with shares held directly in a conventional brokerage account.
The distinction also affects shareholder rights. Ondo’s tokens do not themselves confer ownership of the underlying shares. A separate partnership with Broadridge allows tokenholders to express proxy-voting preferences to the token issuer, which holds the underlying securities.
Access remains geographically restricted. The products are not available in the United States, to U.S. persons or in Canada, and other jurisdictional restrictions apply. The near.com integration does not bypass those eligibility requirements.
Ondo Connects Onchain Inventory to Real Shares
Distribution is only one side of the tokenized-stock market. Liquidity also has to move efficiently between blockchain venues and the securities backing the tokens.
Ondo expanded that connection on September 21 through Alpaca’s Instant Tokenization Network. Approved institutions can contribute existing shares to mint corresponding Ondo Stocks or redeem tokens to receive the underlying shares.
That creates a direct inventory route between traditional securities and their tokenized counterparts.
For example, an approved institution already holding eligible shares does not necessarily need fresh cash to create the corresponding tokenized inventory. It can contribute those shares through the new in-kind process.
Ondo says the mechanism is intended to support deeper secondary-market liquidity and tighter spreads.
The infrastructure is particularly relevant as the catalog expands. Ondo reported more than 440 assets and $27 billion in cumulative trading volume in August, while the new near.com integration puts more than 450 tokenized stocks and ETFs within reach of NEAR’s cross-chain routing layer.
$27B in Volume Gives NEAR Something More Than a Token Catalog
Tokenized equities have often been measured by how many tickers a platform can put onchain. Ondo’s numbers provide another benchmark.
Its reported $27 billion in cumulative volume was roughly 27 times its $1.01 billion TVL as of August. That ratio does not measure current liquidity or guarantee future trading activity, but it shows that the platform’s tokenized securities have generated turnover well beyond the value sitting in the system at one point in time.
NEAR is now testing whether some of that activity can be sourced directly from crypto portfolios distributed across different chains.
The first useful numbers after the integration will therefore be Ondo trading volume routed through NEAR Intents, the mix of networks funding those trades and repeat activity among eligible users. Those metrics would show whether confidential cross-chain execution changes how investors reach tokenized securities, rather than simply giving the same assets another place to appear.
Ondo already has the tokenized inventory and traditional-market connection. NEAR is adding the route from fragmented crypto liquidity to those assets. The next question is how much capital actually takes it.
