Microsoft and Tezos team up to support start-ups in India

  • The “Century Program” will support developers for a year and a half to implement blockchain solution on Tezos.
  • Partners of the Century Program will focus on finding specific solutions for different industries.

The innovation management company Lumos Labs, which specializes in technology, has created the “Century Program” in cooperation with Microsoft. In cooperation with Tech Mahindra, the Indian Volkswagen division “KODA AUTO” and Tezos India, the program focuses on the Indian-based start-up blockchain scene. The goal is to “evangelize, heal and unearth” 100 solutions based on the blockchain with specific industrial applications.

What is the Century Program supported by Tezos?

Launched on October 8th of this year, the Century Program will be supported by the Tezos platform. Thus, the teams of the selected solutions will receive guides and tools to implement their application on Tezos’ blockchain. The program will last 18 months and, in addition to Tezos’ support, participants will have the opportunity to interact with important players in the industry. Microsoft, for example, will provide mentoring, activities to strengthen marketing and other resources with state-of-the-art technology, according to the announcement.

The goal of the program is to identify and resolve business related obstacles, challenges and problems. The program will seek blockchain solutions for application in natural gas and oil, manufacturing, commerce and finance, health care, telecommunications, entertainment, and the public sector. Microsoft’s General Manager for Azure Commercial Industry, Sanjay Anand, said about the project:

The Century Program will accelerate possibilities to create great enterprise solutions for blockchain in India by scaling existing competencies, surmounting awareness bias, and making blockchain more mainstream across various sectors. Partners like Tech Mahindra, ŠKODA AUTO DigiLab India and Tezos India will further help strengthen the blockchain adoption immensely by highlighting the secured, interoperable, and scalable environment that this technology provides. Microsoft is delighted to be able to provide the right platform to make this happen.

A report by Nasscom Avansant India, cited in the document and published in 2019, establishes a link between business adoption of blockchain technology and its development. However, it highlights that service providers in India still need to improve their capabilities. In that sense, the president of Tezos India, Om Malviya, said he believes in the association to boost achievements and push the industry to the head of innovation.

This collaboration with Microsoft, Tech Mahindra, ŠKODA AUTO DigiLab India and Lumos Labs for the Century Program is a step forward in this direction. The next 18 months will be an exciting time for the Indian blockchain ecosystem – startups, developers and enterprises alike; as they set the course in this journey of identifying implementable, enterprise grade blockchain solutions. We are excited to be a part of this journey with them in extending the Tezos Foundation network and our in-house expertise to mentor and train the participating startups.
