- Mercedes-Benz deploys Acentrik on the Polygon network in its quest to provide a solution for decentralized data exchange.
- Acentrik is also expected to trigger a broad adoption of the Gaia-X framework.
Mercedes-Benz has deployed Acentrik, a strategic initiative meant to provide enterprise-grade tools to organizations on the Polygon network. It exists as an enterprise solution for decentralized data exchange. It was built for organizations that seek to create value out of data exchange, with data privacy and sovereignty. In the Enterprise release, the strategic initiative provides two products for the enterprise – Global Data Marketplace aimed to onboard cross-domain data products, and Data Exchange Platform meant for organizations and governments to release their own.
According to the report, features based on Gaia-X principles and the Gaia-X Trust Framework, are being developed, and the strategic initiative will follow the set of data exchange services specifications. These include high-level architecture and some important requirements for a data value, trust, and compliance.
Acentrik deployed on the Polygon blockchain
The press release discloses that the network will be powered by the Polygon blockchain, and would enable portability, transparency, data sovereignty, and interoperability across data and services. The solution is also said to be compatible with any cloud platform, on-premise, or edge infrastructure that follows Gaia-X standards and Trust Framework. Gaia-X is a next-generation data infrastructure ecosystem whose architecture follows the principle of decentralization. Acentrik is very unique in its privacy-preserving feature of Compute-to-Data.
With federation services built on the Ocean Protocol tech stack, one of the key benefits that Acentrik provides to participants in the marketplace is the privacy-preserving feature of Compute-to-Data. With confidential computing, this feature highlights data privacy and sovereignty in exchanges for enterprises.
Acentrik is deployed on Polygon on which the GEN-X network and Gaia-X Web3 Ecosystem are also built.
Acentrik made a huge contribution to the “Compute-to-Data & DLT” track in the GAIA-X Hackathon in 2021. It also showed the data marketplace built on decentralized Web3 networks by taking advantage of the first Gaia-X Web3 ecosystem demonstrator and test network to enable enterprises to exchange and monetize their data.
Enabled by the federation services, a core concept of Gaia-X, powered by Polygon, deltaDAO and Ocean Protocol, all participants of the ecosystem can now utilize fully decentralized and resilient contracting, exchange logging, catalog, and payment services to enable data-driven business models within the Gaia-X framework.
Features would be based on Gaia-X and the Trust Framework
Also, the Acentrik feature would be based on Gaia-X principles and the Trust Framework for portable identities just as all the participants of the Gaia-X Web3 ecosystem. It would also be based on semantic interoperability in addition to enabling scalable and future-proof digital single market in the EEA.
Together with the Gaia-X Web3 ecosystem, Acentrik would ensure the wider adoption of the Gaia-X framework and the concept of technical data sovereignty. This will ensure that users take back control, and will feature business cases within different domains including manufacturing, industry 4.0, mobility, and real estate. It will also promote innovation in the European Digital Single Market.
According to McKinsey’s study, large organizations would use data-sharing platforms to enable collaboration within and between organizations by 2025. Using Polygon gives the initiative the needed features to execute its objective.
