- KuCoin becomes the first top-10 exchange to earn full global security certification, including the CryptoCurrency Security Standard (CCSS).
- The exchange strengthens its $2 billion Trust Project and reinforces its commitment to transparency, compliance, and user protection.
KuCoin has achieved the CryptoCurrency Security Standard (CCSS) certification, making it the first top-10 exchange to reach this level of assurance. The exchange is committed to trust, reliability, and asset protection. With this certification, KuCoin’s broader security efforts will go a long way.
With CCSS, KuCoin joins a rare class of platforms that hold multiple top-tier certifications. As we previously reported, the exchange already holds ISO 27001:2022, ISO 27701:2025, and SOC 2 Type II credentials. With the addition of the CCSS certification, the exchange has further strengthened its information security, privacy, and operational integrity.

Strengthening KuCoin’s Trust Platform and Why CCSS Matters
KuCoin describes this achievement as another key major step in its $2 billion Trust Project. Earlier this year, Kucoin launched the project to bolster confidence, regulatory alignment, and security infrastructure. During the Trust Project rollout, KuCoin pledged that these investments would support global expansion, security hardening, and enhanced transparency for users.
BC Wong, KuCoin’s CEO, said that adding CCSS to their existing certifications is a philosophy of “Trust First. Trade Next.” He affirmed that KuCoin will continue to lead by example through compliance and responsible innovation. In his statement, Wong said:
“[…] Adding CCSS certification to our suite of global standards highlights KuCoin’s leadership in security and user protection […]”
Unlike more general security standards, CCSS focuses specifically on crypto-native risks, evaluating custody, wallet, key management, and transaction infrastructure. KuCoin aims to raise the industry standard now that it has secured this certification. It’s another way to reassure users and partners that its crypto systems undergo rigorous oversight.
Kucoin now holds four certifications: ISO 27001:2022, ISO 27701:2025, SOC 2 Type II credentials, and now CCSS certification. It’s a unique place for KuCoin, giving users assurances not only around data protection and privacy but also around core crypto-asset security controls.
Earlier this year, KuCoin pleaded guilty to operating an unlicensed money transmitting business in the U.S., agreeing to pay fines and pause U.S. operations. This was part of the exchange’s efforts to remain secure and compliant.
