Filecoin and Magmar Unlock Safe File Storage for Web3

    • File Vault enables secure, encrypted file storage directly inside smart wallets using Filecoin and Lighthouse infrastructure.
    • Magmar Infra integrates Filecoin and Lighthouse to offer censorship-resistant, permanent Web3 file storage for real-world applications.

When it comes to storing files in the Web3 world, many may still be stuck in the old pattern: upload them to the cloud, then hope they remain secure. But now, Magmar Infra is trying to reverse that perspective.

Through the integration between their smart wallet and Filecoin—via Lighthouse—they are launching a new feature called File Vault. Its function is quite simple, to store files directly in your crypto wallet, without the need for additional servers or traditional clouds. And not only is it secure, the files also cannot be deleted by anyone.

How do you empower your Web3 project?
Just ask @Magmarerc, who has integrated the smart wallet, File Vault, with Filecoin network via @LighthouseWeb3. This is how builders build an application that is open, durable, and censorship-resistant.

From Smart Wallet to Secure Vault: Web3 Storage Made Simple

Lighthouse here is an important bridge. They make everything easier for developers. Want to upload files to the Filecoin network? Just use their API. Want to set who can access the file? Just set access rules via smart contract. Interestingly, Lighthouse offers permanent storage with a pay-once-for-all model—similar to buying a super durable flash drive, but the blockchain version.

The main point of File Vault is not just about storing files. But about returning full control to the user. Once the encrypted file enters the Filecoin network, you don’t need to worry about censorship, blocking, or losing data because the server goes down.

Even if Magmar disappears from the Web3 map one day, your files will still be accessible because they are distributed on the tamper-resistant Filecoin network.

As of press time, FIL is changing hands at about $2.25, up 3.33% over the last 7 days, with a $1.53 billion market cap.

Filecoin Powers Open Access for Science and Privacy-Focused AI

On the other hand, CNF also previously reported that OpSci has archived more than 500 terabytes of neuroimaging data to the Filecoin network. Data from OpenNeuro, ABIDE, and NeuroVault can now be accessed forever and are censorship-free.

Even more amazingly, through the Filecoin Plus program, researchers can store scientific data for free—as long as it meets open access and reproducibility standards. So, it’s not just the crypto industry that is taking advantage of this system, but also the scientific world.

Furthermore, in early July, the CryptoModels project also put their AI model on Filecoin. They want the model to remain accessible without the risk of being controlled or deleted by the central party. The AI can even be run directly on the user’s device, without telemetry. This means that no data is secretly sent back to the server and privacy is truly protected.

If you look more broadly, Filecoin is moving up a class. In early June, as we previously reported, the Internet Archive began storing archives of US government websites on the Filecoin network.

This step was taken to maintain the integrity of public data, especially during presidential transitions—a time when it is often prone to sudden changes or deletions. Filecoin is considered more resilient in the face of potential censorship or central server failures.

Back to File Vault, this feature could be the start of a new trend. Imagine being able to store important documents, proof of ownership of digital assets, or sensitive data directly from your wallet, without having to log in to other services.

Want to create a dApp that requires user files? No need to bother creating your own storage system—just use what already exists. On the developer side, this makes the process of building applications much lighter and more efficient.

Not only that, the existence of File Vault could open up new opportunities in a sector that Web3 has rarely touched before: personal document management. Who knows, in the future, passports, birth certificates, or diplomas could also be stored directly in your wallet, complete with encryption protection and proof of authenticity on the blockchain.
