The Ethereum-based platform, Githcoin, has started an initiative that seeks to contribute to fight the Coronavirus. Gitcoin announced on Twitter the beginning of its 5 round of grants on March 23rd of this year. The platform said it is preparing to include a Public Health section as a response to COVID-19.
Gitcoin committed to contribute $50,000 in funds and aims to raise a minimum of $100,000. The funds will be used for research and response projects on the platform. Those interested in the initiative can contact the Gitcoin team. Proposed projects will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis with Gitcoin partners.

In response to the Gitcoin initiative, the blockchain-based computer network, Golem made a proposal to fight COVID-19. Through the Foldingathome platform, interested users will be able to lend their computing power to contribute to the development of a vaccine:

In addition, Golem proposed that users running a DApp node contribute to COVID-19 researchers. For this initiative, DApp Node joined the Rosseta project and made a special package available on its Github page.

Italian Red Cross initiative to raise funds in Bitcoin (BTC)
Initiatives based on cryptocurrencies that seek to fight COVID-19 are increasing. As reported by CNF, the Italian Red Cross and the Colli Albani Committee have launched a fundraising campaign in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. In three days the campaign achieved its goal and has raised 2,8178 BTC. The objective of the campaign is to improve the infrastructure and acquire medical equipment to combat the Coronavirus. Another part of the funds will be used to provide medical and project personnel with protective equipment.
