- Bitcoin’s Lightning Lab, Chainlink and MakerDAO have been added to the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) list of technology pioneers for 2020.
- The selected companies will be part of the World Economic Forum initiatives for two years.
The World Economic Forum revealed its list of 100 start-up companies that are pioneers in innovation and new technologies. The list is made up of companies from around the world and the fields in which each works are extensive. From artificial intelligence, to quantum computing systems, to medical diagnostics, among others. In the list 6 of the selected companies are part of the blockchain sector.
MakerDAO, Chainlink and Bitcoin Lightning Lab are 3 of the featured companies. Chainlink especially has managed to close a large number of partnerships during the year that will allow the company to diversify the areas that use its Oracle services and expand its adoption. Among the other selected blockchain companies is the risk management solutions provider for cryptocurrencies Elliptic, Ripio and Veridum Labs.

According to the World Economic Forum, the selected companies will be part of the institution’s initiatives for two years. In other words, the Economic Forum will prepare activities and events in which the selected companies will be able to bring their “cutting edge perspectives” to global debates related to their fields of work. Furthermore, as selected companies they will be able to be part of two exclusive initiatives of the WEF:

Technology Pioneers are also part of the Forum’s Strategic Intelligence ecosystem, which helps industry leaders and decision-makers navigate transformations across industries, economies and global issues.
In addition to the companies mentioned, the blockchain companies will be among the Technology Pioneers along with Mozilla, Spotify, Twitter, Google, among others. This list created by the World Economic Forum is celebrating 20 years of existence. Since the year 2000 it has selected some of the most important technology companies in the world. In 2015, for example, the payment solutions company Ripple was one of the selected companies.
